Assistant Manager - Purchase Cable

Job Title: Assistant Manager – Purchase

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement & Material Planning 

 Sourcing & purchase: key raw materials such as copper, aluminum, PVC/XLPE Raw materials for compounds, gi wire, copper tapes, armoring materials, insulation & sheathing compounds, and other consumables.  Ensure timely delivery of materials as per production plans and BOM requirements.
 Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
Vendor Management & Development
 Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors/suppliers for copper, aluminum, PVC/XLPE Raw materials for compounds, gi wire, copper tapes, armoring materials, insulation & sheathing compounds .
 Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contracts to achieve cost savings.
 Conduct monthly supplier performance evaluations (quality,delivery, cost).

2. Cost Control & Budgeting
 Track market trends of metals (Copper, Aluminum, Polymers) and recommend purchase strategies.
 Support cost-reduction initiatives and value engineering.
 Assist in preparation and monitoring of the purchase budget.

3. Purchase Order & Documentation
 Prepare and release Purchase Orders (POs) as per approval matrix.
 Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and audit standards.
 Maintain accurate procurement records and MIS reports.

4. Quality & Compliance
 Coordinate with Quality Assurance for vendor approvals and material inspections.
 Ensure materials meet IS / IEC / ASTM standards and customer specifications.
 Handle non-conformance issues and supplier corrective actions.

5. Coordination & Communication
 Liaise with Production, PPC, Stores, Finance, and Quality departments.
 Support import procurement activities, if applicable (documentation, follow-ups).
 Resolve supplier issues related to delivery delays, shortages, or quality concerns.

Qualifications & Experience
 Education: B.Tech (Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics)
 Experience: 3–5 years of procurement experience, preferably in Cable / Wire / Electrical manufacturing industry.
